PSHE

PSHE (personal, social, health and economic) education is a school curriculum subject through which pupils develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to manage their lives, now and in the future. PSHE education helps pupils to stay healthy, safe and prepared for life – and work – in modern Britain.

At Frittenden we use the PSHE Association Programme of Study, which is regularly updated to meet the needs of our children as well as meeting the National Curriculum suggested provision. Additionally, it also covers the 2020 statutory requirements to teach Relationship and Health Education.

We aim to develop the skills and attributes of resilience, self-esteem, risk management, team work and critical thinking in the context of three themes:

  • Relationships
  • Living in the Wider World
  • Health and Wellbeing

he PSHE programme equip pupils with a sound understanding of the knowledge and skills necessary to make safe and informed decisions. We endeavour to deliver a curriculum that reflects the needs of our pupils as we believe that the purpose of PSHE education is to build, where appropriate, on the National Curriculum statutory guidance on drug education, financial education, citizenship, personal safety, sex and relationship education (SRE) and the importance of physical activity and diet for a healthy lifestyle.

We provide our children with opportunities to learn about British Values and rights and responsibilities and also to appreciate what it means to be a member of a diverse society. Our children are also encouraged to develop their sense of self-worth by playing a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community

As a result of this, pupils will have developed their knowledge and skills in order to be healthy, independent and responsible members of society who understand how they are developing personally and socially, and who have the confidence to tackle many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up.
