Potter Support

Class Provision

Children coming into school start at different points and will learn at different speeds and through different styles of teaching.

In Potter Class through careful planning and assessment we aim to include all children in stimulating and exciting whole class learning as well as carefully planned and thought out additional provision.

Additional provision may include a small group fine motor activity, individual language support, a social support group or a gross motor group to develop coordination. These groups/individual support are planned to match your child's needs and are outlined in a document called a provision map. The provision map is discussed and amended each term and a copy is sent to all parents via the Seesaw app. This is then discussed during parent consultation or through a separate meeting if required.

Please see below an example of part of a provision map.

How to help your child at home

There are many ways that parents can help their child with their learning and support them in their education.  One of the simplest ways is to talk to your child about their day and perhaps ask them to show you something new they have learned how to do such as a new phonics sound they have learned.  Reading with your child regularly at home and setting aside time for any home learning set by the school are important ways to support your child.  Parents can also use everyday activities to reinforce learning and practice key skills such as counting objects.
